The GEAR UP Waterbury Alliance is partnering with Catalyst to offer two unique SAT prep programs for 11th grade students. Registration is required for both programs.
SAT Prep Course
The SAT Prep Course is an eight-week course that will maximize students’ SAT scores through Catalyst’s comprehensive, inventive curriculum, and authentic diagnostic tests. Students will be immersed in every aspect of the SAT from the Writing and Language Test’s grammar and rhetoric questions to the “calculator-permitted” Math Test’s data interpretation questions. Students are taught how to approach each question in the most logical and efficient manner, how to avoid the SAT’s notorious trap answers, and how to manage their time. Participants will take two practice exams during this program.
SAT Prep Course will be held at Naugatuck Valley Community College every Wednesday from 4:30pm-6:30pm beginning Wednesday, January 17th through Wednesday, March 7th. Practice exams will be held on Saturday, January 20th and Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00am-1:00pm.
The SAT Bootcamp teaches students go-to strategies for the most common types of questions they will encounter on the SAT and instills a sense of confidence and momentum heading into the test. The two-day, eight hour program covers all major aspects of the SAT. Students must attend BOTH Bootcamp sessions. A $20 deposit will be collected to reserve a spot in the Bootcamp program. The deposit will be returned at the end of the second Bootcamp session.
The SAT Bootcamp will be held at Naugatuck Valley Community College on Saturday, March 10th and Saturday, March 17th from 10:00am-2:00pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
